PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH

I gave birth to children in 2 different states and was never approached by physicians, nurses, social workers, medical technicians with information regarding maternal mental health. Becoming a parent is very hard no matter if it’s your first or second or third... child! And when everything around you sends the message of a Pampers propaganda, you might start thinking there is something wrong with you when you actually feel overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, or even regretful.

Initially known as Postpartum Depression, Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD’s) is the #1 complication related to childbearing and the leading cause of maternal mortality in the U.S. PMAD’s is a group of disorders that affect a whole lot of women and men (Yes! You read right "Men"!) from pregnancy through after giving birth. Because of stigma and shame regarding mental health along with misconceptions of the blissful and wonderful time of motherhood, a lot of parents struggle silently.

Also, after the baby is born there is so much attention on the baby and very little to the mom. Our body goes through so many physical and emotional changes, it’s hard to know what is normal and what is not. You are not alone!

We heal through relationships. Through a relational and nurturing connection, we can find the way for you to start feeling better. Please take advantage of the free consultation (1-737-637-1360).

If you don’t feel like talking right now please visit the Postpartum Service International website (https://www.postpartum.net/). You will find a lot of information including FREE resources, different support groups you can participate, and professionals you can contact as well. You are not alone! You are not to blame!

With help, you will get better!
